Here is what would work....
A new chip set is not going to happen. IGT won't redesign a discontinued machine. No new chip is needed if you just make the machines $1 machines and leave them as they are payout wise. When you win a strike, it will be a $40 strike. It will have over an ounce of silver, so the value is still there, yet the casino still turns a profit on the strikes themselves. The $200 strike becomes a $400 strike and you turn in 10 $40's for it. Its a simple plan and just represents what the rate of inflation since the program started. I would have no interest in a silver plated junk token. I want intrinsic value to something that I am going to collect. Silver strikes are not a baseball card or a beanie baby that cost a buck or five to aquire. I would not buy a gold plated Eagle from the mint, nor would I accept the equivelent from the strike program. Like Kirk said, if you don't want to spend the money, then you won't collect. Sticking $80 in a machine today is getting to inflation adjusted the equivelent of sticking in a $20 15 years ago.
