Although I don't collect many SS or wasn't I involved in the tournament, I have stated on another BB that I firmly believe that the hotel owes this group SOME SORT OF explanation on this thing.
I have several questions and a few points. I am not defending the hotel, just asking some questions to better understand the whole thing as a club member.
On most tournament invites it clearly states at the bottom that the "management reserves to right to alter the prize structure...and/or cancel the tournament." Did this wording appear on anything sent out by the hotel?
I have seen speculation that your group was bumped for a bigger function. I don't think that is the case. 1)They have rooms, they offered them to you at a casino rate/regular summer rate. They have 3600 rooms in the joint. 2)They have PLENTY of meeting room space in that hotel and can easily handle your function and many others at the same time.
In another post, someone stated that there was or has been noise about filing a lawsuit because of the "one entry per household" rule. Public corporations and casinos do not like this. Maybe the threat of a lawsuit or the same person/people complained to the Gaming Control Board? The hotel may have decided is wasn't worth the hassle.
From people I have talked to, it appears that for the most part, the hotel was happy with this tournament and the participation. If that is the case, I don't think they wake up one morning and decide to cancel this thing without a very powerful reason. Whatever flak they would catch from this group over that decision, must not have been near as bad as going ahead with it.
I wish you all the best, try to have a good time in Vegas next week and I sincerely hope you get some sort of explanation for all this.
