New Members

As it can't hurt to increase membership in the club, I have a couple thoughts (obvious, but maybe worth noting anyway):

1) For those who wish to point out potentially misleading or downright wrong/fraudulent postings on eBay or Jackpot by Non-members of the club, please go ahead and post warnings here & contact eBay (although contacting those sellers first to give them a chance to fix their listings -- as many of us do -- makes sense to cover the slight chance that their claims were unintended) - as this protects first time Strike buyers.

2) However, for those who disagee with the descriptive claims of other Club members' auctions (to the extent that the descriptions are not fraudulent or false), please contact those members privately -- and only post here as a last resort. I ask this so that potential new members do not get turned off by (a) disputes which turn out to be purely correctable misunderstandings and (b) legitimate concerns (but which also may be correctable by the seller once notified/warned). This board can stil be used as a last resort.

I am not aiming this at any particular members as I see both sides of each dispute (but neither I nor most members or potential members really "need" to see both sides in depth for most disputes).

I have not been criticized here (and I am very thankful for that), but I was once criticized privately by a member who thought I had posted a misleading auction -- and both of us were glad it was private -- as I had made an error in my listing and he had jumped to the conclusion that I had purposely mislabeled my auction description. I consider him a good friend now, but probably wouldn't had the forum been public.

Similarly, I have also been frustrated by non-members mislabeling eBay auctions. I even was contacted by one seller (out of the Blue) who wanted to know why a Strike he was selling was generating complaints from club members disputing his claim that it was a $20 Strike. Baffled, as I had never done business with this person, I clicked on his auction. Not only was he describing a $10 Strike as a $20, he was using the exact same language (down to the punctuation) that I was using on my $20 auctions. He had contacted me for help (as he didn't know the difference between a $10 and a $20) after expropriating my own "way too long long-winded descriptions" -- on all of his auctions. Pretty galling.

This is just a request. If you disagree, please let me know privately. I have bought strikes from both parties/sides in every dispute I have seen over the last year -- and do not have a complaint with any of them.

Thanks
