The Palms was a very nice experience and I managed to score a complete set of the PMOY strikes in less than 2 hours without going through an excessive amount of money. Would rate the Palms a 9 with very pleasant staff and comfortable surroundings. Joined their players club and will most likely stay there next time thru.
The Palms was a new experience for me as was Sam's Town.
Sam's had some nice silver strike action and managed to get a complete set of everything they had EXCEPT the mystic falls park small furry creature with a large flat tail known for its dam building abilities (NOTE: the board's censor software apparently has a problem with calling this animal by its real name). My associate/staff photographer and I monopolized both machines for probably a total of 3-4 hrs each and couldn't come up with even one. Are small furry aquatic mammals extinct? Interestingly, we both got 1ea of the 25th anniversary strikes from each of the machines we played. Drink servers seemed to have a large area to cover and were longer between refills than I'd like to see. (Heck yes I drink when I'm in Vegas...), but, Sam's rates an 8 due to the very nice cage folks who tried to find me a furry aquatic dam builder on two separate occasions.
At the Four Queens I managed to score 3 of the red caps, 1 ea of the unicorn and castle with an extra castle. 4 vices is the only other one that we saw drop out and since I've got those, they were turned in. Would rate 4 Q's a 7 (a little slow with the liquid refreshments and a machine that had to be convinced twice by a slot attendant to take money).
Tried the Fremont only briefly and ran $40 thru their $1 machine without any luck. Didn't really pursue it that hard since I don't have enough $10 strikes to keep me happy yet and don't need any $40 distractions at this point.
SoF was lots of fun. 1st day the machines were full of players except for one and I got two different 07 wildlife strikes before leaving to attend to business. This was Thursday. Machines were only about 1/2-3/4 full and there were numerous red caps visible. Went back again the night before leaving and managed to get everything but a red cap. The machines had for the most part all been refilled and NO red caps were visible in any of the machines that I could see. Drink server appeared regularly and were very friendly. SoF gets a 7.5. Think I'd rather see the machines spread out a little as opposed to being 5 in a row. Did have a nice conversation with a coin dealer who was trying to win some strikes and traded with him a little for what he had and what my associated needed. He seemed interested in strikes so I referred him to this board.
So, bottom line is, I'm looking for the 4 (?) red caps from SoF (for both 06 and 07) and a Sam's mystic falls "Furry, Flat-tailed, Aquatic Mammal with hydrological engineering prowess . Will trade off the extra red cap castle from 4 queens. My dupe list is below, since it's pretty short, be advised that I'm willing to buy what I'm looking for too.
Thanks!
