There are both silver and gold miners. I have one I'm looking at now that is fully reeded, silver feet and branch on the eagle, gold eagle and rim, and the entire miner side is silver. Cohenour's guide also lists a part reeded silver miner, but it is inconsistent in identifying gold or silver on the miner side, that is the only one it lists as silver. I think there are way too many variations to list with all the hats, halters, ripples or smooth river, gold feet, silver feet, gold miner, silver miner, gold rim, silver rim, I think someone was drunk at the mint!

It would be interesting to hear if anyone has any info on WHY there are so many variations?
