The problem, as I understand it, is that convention-goers are booking hotel rooms at other properties for as little as $10 or $20 a night less, instead of looking at the BIG PICTURE of where the next convention may or may not be held as a result of a significant drop-off in hotel room occupancy at the Riviera.

Convenience, while staying at the convention host hotel, has a significant value..., as does some perks that are currently being negotiated for those who book their convention stay at the Riviera. You may not be saving as much as you think you are by booking somewhere else. Stay tuned on this one. As Yogi said; "it ain't over 'till it's over".
