I was sorting threw our strikes tonight to pick out ones for trade and sale I want to list next week. I have looked at this one Strike many many times and not sure how I missed this feature. Its a Harrah's 1895-1995 Babe Ruth Centenial and has lettering on the edge.
Not sure if the edge lettering was put on just a certain few in a series. I checked and none of the others I have have are edge lettered. The words Ruth Curtis Indpls. My guess would be that it may have been stamped in it to identify the owner from Indianapolis. The other guess would be it was the artist or designer of this strike.
Anyone have an answer to why the lettering would have been stamped into the edge? Its seems to have been done professionally as it is very neat.
