Peter, I think that is a matter of oppinion. A while back I purchased a Collection of Strikes from all areas,& 90% of them the Rims had toned to a beautiful rainbow toning,& I would not think of dipping them. A few Months back I put a $10 Bourbon Street Sax player on E Bay with a Picture,the Rim had turned to a deep Burgandy color,It brought over $250.00 which was quite a bit more than I had expected. Will agree,that some toning does not enhance a Strike either,and are they not considered proof like,not proofs?? Would say Beauty is in the Eye of the beholder.
