Dan; That's good advice for cash sales or cash purchases ... however; I've seen some innovative folks purchase, let's say $100 face value in chips at the Riviera cage ... and "trade" them for whatever interests them at the trade sessions. You don't need like for like (silver strikes for silver strikes or chips for chips or room keys for room keys) to make successful "trades".
