A NYNY Proud and Free strike sold for $100 (see item 130134321293) and the bidder who bid $99 then bid on my NYNY Proud and Free (which sold for $14). So there are legitimate bidders out there who pay these prices for strikes, I know because I did the same thing with Stardust strikes if you recall back to the Dusty Draw craze....A lot of new collectors are coming in, and yes, having no idea about the hobby, seeing something they REALLY want, not even knowing a price guide exists, they bid what they want to ensure they win an item. A Luxor $10 recently sold for over $200, and I would have sold it for $30 and thought I got a GREAT deal! People get caught up in a bidding war and then it doesn't become winning the item, but more beating the other bidder becomes the primary goal. Take it from a competitive person who doesn't like to lose, if you've got the money and want something, you will win it. If two people like that get on the same auction, watch out!
