There are a great number of people who find the odor of cigarette smoke to be not only personally offensive, but often times the cause of physical illness. While it may be considerably less for strikes and other impermeable metals and such, the odor of cigarette smoke will get into and be noticeable for a long period of time on just about any collectible you can find on ebay. Paper collectibles, such as comic books or baseball cards, as well as cloth and other cloth like items like beanie babies are particurlarly susceptible to this "carry over" effect. Me personally, If I have the option of buying one of 2 identical items...price, condition, shipping charges, etc, I will always buy the one that states smoke free home rather than the one that doesn't.
