Last month I happened to have a conversation with the Marketing Director and he told me that they found all these "silver coins" in the cage and that they were planning on giving them out in a special promotion. Well, it seems that they launched the program before I could react to the news, but here are some additional details.
These coins were leftover from a previous, month-long "jackpot" promotion The Orleans did, where if you got a hand-pay jackpot, depending on the value of the max bet, you received one of four different silver coins. Nickel machines allowed for the smaller coin, quarter machines allowed for the next size up, dollar machines the next and then $5 machines awarded the Pounder! At that time my wife (the player in my family) won the third largets coin and no others.
When they instituted this promotion, it was at about the same time that the "Liberty Alligator" was being introduced and the coins were modeled after the Liberty Alligator Silver Strike, but these were all hand-painted (except the smallest coin). Well, they have sat in the vault (cage) all this time and Boyd figured they could put them to use in this new promotion.
However, under the current rules, they are easier to obtain than the original method. HOWEVER, you cannot get multiple (duplicate) coins on the same account. This means that as you build-up your points you get one coin at each level required. If you hit 100,000 points, you will receive all four coins. You can redeem all at once, or as you hit each level. But once you are over that level, there are no more coins to earn, unless you play on someone elses card.
ALSO!!!! The only points that are counted are actual play points. This means that on double-points days, even though you get credits for those points to your overall account, you do NOT get double points towards the coins! BTW-These double-points are called "bonus" credits/points at The Orleans, and simply stated, bonus points do not go toward your total for earning these coins.
If I get my hands on a set, I'll post a scan. So far she has the first three coins.
