Gene,
Thanks for thinking of the collectors! And BEFORE you completed your plans, no less! There is something about listening to one large component of your potential customer base that just makes sense! Anyway, I'm impressed and will definitely invest some of my hard-earned coins at the Palms when you install you strike machines.
It seems to me that a viable silver strike program provides a variety of designs to attract both the serious collector and casual visitor. And that the number of strikes should be sufficient to satisfy our initial feeding frenzy. As collectors, we are always looking for something new, so I like the idea of producing middle-range numbers of strikes and changing the designs AT LEAST once a year.
Further, I would hope that the second runs would have different designs than the initial run. As an example, I love the Luxor designs, but am turned off by the fact that they simply reproduce the same designs year after year changing only the date. BORING!
Lastly, I'll second the suggestion that the casino allow trading of duplicate strikes at the cage. That makes it possible for many of us to collect all of a particular design series. There is an attitude at some casinos that we are trying to pull some sort of swindle when we ask to trade for different designs. Very off-putting. It's all about attitude!
Thanks again for providing us the opportunity to comment.
