Casino's spend """"Billions YES Billions With a BIG B""". In Nevada alone. On different forms of advertising to get people to come to their casino. What with Comped most everything, direct mail, cash back, shirts, etc. You can check last years gaming numbers issued by the casino's, Nevada Gaming Commision, and not counting other gaming commissions.
One thing that hasn't been mentioned---Is that silver strikes are a great form of advertisement for the casino's.
And THIS IS 1 FORM OF Advertisement where it is possible for a casino to make money on. Or at least possibly come out even. Even if they lose a little on silver strikes. In the long run (and that's what a casino counts on) they come out ahead.
How MANY TIMES has a collector been asked to see, or showed a person, been asked what is it they are they playing for, seen people playing (not a collector)to bring 1 or more home to show them back home. And I could go on and on and on like this. I could not count or remember how many times this has happened to me. Because of silver strikes the casino's name gets mentioned many times. And therefore a conversation is started about that casino. And could lead to a future visit to that casino. After all SS are STILL being talked about years and MANY years after they have left the casino. And even when they have been placed in a position so not to be able to reedeem them. For their face value at the casino they came from.
However PRETTY MUCH ALL the casino's do not see it this way. ALL they usually see is the immediate bottom line for SS machines. Or the SS machine is a pain to have. It's kinda funny that casino management can see the long term results on regular other type slot machines. BUT NOT SEE any long money or advertising results with silver strike machines. The casino management can be sometimes strange thinking people. And almost always very independent people too. Who loses in the long run---the casino's --.
