The reason for the ridiculous shipping ( not that the whole deal isin't ridiculous )is the mandatory insurance. Next day air for an item that weight would be no more than $25.00, But insuring an item for that amount is astronomical and possibly they would not even insure it. It just goes to prove that the value of any collectable is what a buyer is willing to pay for it.
