I've always loved searching the casinos for the elusive Silver Strike machines, then finding them and playing for the special prize that makes them different from all of the rest of the plain-old slot machines. I'm sure we've all had people come up and ask what it was we were playing for and/or ask if they could see one of the strikes. I'll never forget seeing the thrill on peoples faces when they would win a strike (one of the most memorable was at the Las Vegas Club when a guy couldn't win enough of them...whatever they were...he was having a blast each time one popped out).
Maybe the strike machines will disappear, maybe they won't. Maybe stikes will disappear, maybe casinos will continue to have them produced, maybe only sold as collectibles like limited edition chips.
It seems like now that they've finally perfected how the machines operate (with far fewer hopper fills and I don't recall seeing a new design machine jam), they're bailing out. It doesn't mean that the rest of us have to give up.
