future of our hobby--an opinion
as the price of silver sustains a price above $10 an ounce it is relatively unprofitable for IGT and the casinos to manufacture and maintain $10 silver strikes. Incentive and profits are great motivators. it is up to us as silver strikers to help convince those with the power to make decisions that $20 and $40 silver strikes are the key to their profitability in the future. I think the current $10 strikes will suffer the same fate as the $7 strikes. serious collectors will still want to add these marvelous little works of art to their treasure chests. secondary markets will continue to be active on ebay and jackpot for ss's of all denominatiions. this hobby has been active for approximately 14 years and i see a bright future for all collectors as long as the casinos realize the potential (both $ and advertising) of these items. hopefully this will be a topic of discussion at the august convention of which i am looking forward to.
