It is a really fine line between having the strikes in the machine and current. I remember a few years ago we all wanted more designs and more issues alot more often. So our good friends at the Palms did just what we asked. They started coming out with new strike sets pretty darn often and from a minimum of six strikes in each set. Along with a $200 to go along with the sets. And guess what, we as collectors started complaining because there were to many to soon and we could not alway get to LV to play for them so we had to buy them off eBay or Jackpot. What si to many to soon or when is to long ? I am sure the casino's would love that answer so the machines get a good amount of play all the time. I think the 4 Queens has it pretty well dialed in. Other casino's could follow their lead and everyone would be happy.
And this is just my observations of the past. Heck I liked it when strikes has a number on the rim also. Not any longer.
