Since you brought this up......
See what you mean! I have six Gold Spike strikes
and sure enough One is reversed.( one out 6 hum?)
I agree with you about how someone could just take one apart and put the Silver insert in any position.
However, since the one I have "dropped" out this way, gives me reason to keep it.
