Dave, you are correct. In a way with a reserve you sort of rope in a possible buyer. But my thought is this. With a reserve set and then starting to auction low each time a bidder bids the bidder who just got out bid gets a notice and can now go back and bid again if they so like to. Starting low equals more bids and more action. I really don't think there is any wrong way to sell a strike. Just different ways and thoughts. I bid on strikes on Jackpot and Ebay all the time. Some with reserves and some without. Like all of us, I know how much I am willing to spend no matter how the auction is listed. One thing we all need to watch is the shipping. Those can be crazy sometimes. On my auctions I think I am fair on the selling prices. I know on some of my strikes I will never get what I have in them. Nature is striking. It is a hobby first, not an investment.
Enjoy collecting,
Dennis
