You can only make the machine as tight as 70% to be legal. I believe there are 5 chip sets for the 25 cent strike machine. My guess would be 70,75,80,85,90 chipsets with the average machine in play being the 75 - 85 set. Most vegas non-strike 25 cent machines are within 85-95% payout range. Some of the newer bally machines have eye sights on the backglass where you can actually read the meters in them. You would be surprised how close most of them are to 90-92% You can pretty much bet that if you are at the airport, you will be playing a machine at or around 70% payout, which means you will lose your money about 5 times faster than if you are Downtown or north strip or off strip.
