The machine in the pic is an older model. The strikes were loaded into the hopper in their capsules like coins and were dispensed just like coins were.
The machine in the pic had a 3 tier winning level.
If you lined up 3 single coin bars on the payline you won 1 strike.
If you lined up 3 double coin bars you won 2 strikes and the same for the triple bar coin , you would win 3 strikes.
There was no way to see where any colored capsules were, but i do not recall any red or blue caps being used until the newer style machine came along. Maybe another collector may remember that but I do not.
That is about the extent of what I remember from my days as a begining collector.
