"I think that there is a failure to realize that these $200 1 troy pound Silver Strikes we are talking about are indeed GAMING TOKENS. Unlike the Sierra Sid's 1 troy pound tokens which are NOT Gaming Tokens." .... Marv Weaver
Marv; Thanks for posting your opinion ... but you have not explained to those who do not know ... what the differences are between the two 12-ounce silver medallions that makes one a gaming token and the other one not. Also, I'm seeking advice from the Chapter Officers as to what constitutes a Silver Strike for the purposes of determining eligibility for SSOTY 2001 ... not which 12-ounce silver medallion is a gaming token and which one is not.
This is EXACTLY why I've posted that I will be guided by what the Silver Strikers Chapter Officers determine what is eligible and what is not. Too many individual silver strike collectors have differing opinions as to what should be eligible and what is not.
I hate to be redundant ... but 'll repeat my sincere pledge one more time for those who may have missed it.... As SSOTY 2001 Chairman, I will accept whatever the SILVER STRIKER CHAPTER OFFICERS determine is eligible for SSOTY 2001. Whether the Chapter Officers consult with each other ... or whether the Chapter Officers consult other silver strikers for their opinons ... or whether the Chapter Officers appoint a committee ... or whether the Chapter Officers conduct a poll among the members .... I'll be welcoming the Silver Strike Chapter's SSOTY 2001 standards and/or recommendations before the March 30 deadline.
