Archie, I have to agree with you on silver strikes. Everyone wants them like new. If you want to eleminate some of the toning an airtite capsule is the way to go. The one that comes with the strike out of the machine has the slit on the side and that will give you a problem over time. The same can be said about silver coins, although rainbow toned coins are now the hottest thing on the market. If they have natural toning they will bring 3 times the value of a bright white coin. The problem we have with silver strikes is the combination of the 2 metals. The brass which has a tendency to corrode over the years and the silver which will tone if not sealed in an airtite. The best advice I can give is to get rid of the capsule the silver strike comes in and put it in an airtite holder. That will preserve both the brass and the silver. Never ever leave a token or a silver strike in a PVC Holder for any length of time. The PVC has done more damage to great coins than any other holder including the paper 2X2's. Sorry to be so long winded but if I can save one coin or silver strike it would be worth it. Thanks from Ted SS171.
