Archie..I am not an officer and would say that the officers do not define what is or is not a Silver Strike but that the collectors make that decision, on an individual basis. It is a good argument, however and you are right about the timing. We have been talking about this very strike and it is NOT a Silver Strike as defined by some of us that collect. It is a very nice collectible token.
What you are asking is generic, I think, and the question is what defines a Silver Strike? Previously a Silver Strike had to be won from one of the special Souvenir Coin machines in a casino. More and more we are beginning to add special editions to our collections, like handpay strikes, tournament giveaways and the 1 pounders from Sierra Sid's which are all nice pieces, but extend the boundries of the Silver Strikes we used to collect.
