I think the confusion is that in your prior post, you said that the URL that has 'security-ebay.com' in it is a scam. Some folks don't see how that is not an eBay web site since it has 'ebay.com' in it.
My understanding is that's a scam site because the domain name in that example is 'security-ebay' not 'ebay'. If it were 'security.ebay.com', it would be a valid ebay address, as the domain name there is 'ebay'. In other words, if the address has a period directly before the 'ebay.com' then it is likely a valid ebay site. Anything that doesn't have a period directly before the 'ebay.com' in the web address would be a non-ebay site. But be careful of addresses that have something like ebay.com.abc.com, because the real domain name there is abc.com. The best thing to do when you're not absolutely sure is to forward it to eBay for verification.
If I've gotten this wrong, someone should correct me.
