I think that we are coming to a crossroad in the Silver Strike collecting history.
Now the casinos are paying $7.50 for their strikes. Not many come back to the cage. OK you say they are making $$2.50 a strike.
Not really!
They have to keep $10.00 in the cage to buy the strike back per Nevada Gamming Commission rules.
The strikes come under the same rules as chips and a casino must keep enough cash in the cage to cash out all of their outstanding chips. The casino now paid $7.50 for $10.00 that they can't use. So...The casinos don't get the $10.00 for the strike that they will never see again till they make them obsolete (a six month process). We might see more of this happening.
I don't think that any casino is going to buy new strikes that cost more than $10.00 and have to keep $10 in the cage just in case that the strikes come back. We could easily see the end of the $10 strike as we know it.
