Years ago I got tired of waiting in the post office lines and decided to try the online postal services. I used stamps.com ($4.50/month) and was pleased with the ease of buying stamps and postage for my strike packages. I usually offer insurance in my auctions (not mandatory). The fees at this site (Stamps.com) have gone to high for me ($15.50/month) and have recently switched to Endicia.com ($8.50/month). I like NOT waiting in lines and feel this is worth the money.

With the online services only the postage shows on the outside package. Insurance if purchased is separate and invoiced separate. I have never tried to collect on the insurance from the online sites so I don't know how hard it would be to collect.

I often include a copy of the insurance billing when packaging the strike as proof.

My point is that postage on the outside of the package may not necessarily indicate that the package is insured.
