Dan-insurance-and the Louisiana Crab

I donot usually do this or like to do this. But, I am going to try to do like a Louisiana crab. When a Louisiana crab wants to go someplace. It goes kinda backwards and side ways at the same time.
After reading the postings. Seems I might have wrote before I knew all the facts. And made several statements that might not apply to ALL the sellers.
Norm, I have done business with you before. And I know that you are 1 of the good sellers. And that I can trust you in ANY dealings we might have. I still appreciate the 4-Queens Roulette Woman. That you sold me, back when. I as far as you are concerned WILL continue to buy from you.
However, about insurance(I never relized you didnot insure, since you charged a flat shipping rate & thought the insurance was part of it)I think that at least the 1st time. The insurance amount could be refunded with the item. Along with a note reminding the buyer. That you are self- insured and that in the future, do not send any insurance money. And that if insurance money is sent it could possibally be kept by the seller. This could/should have did away with problems like Christine's. A simple zeroxed preprinted note could do this easly, timely and cheaply. I have gotten these preprinted notes thanking me for a buy, in the past.
This is not to say, that I am for self-insured. Norm, I know and trust. However, there are a few(not many, thank goodness) sellers out there. Who is not like Norm, so I will be very careful and leary of someone that is self- insured. At least till I get to know I can trust them. Is a buyer sure that a self-insured seller will follow up on a loss. Or will the self-insured seller be like the post office? A pain in the behind/or not pay up or will the seller do what's right.
I myself donot insure the lower amount buys. I also donot like paying for the higher amounts (usually $100 up) I would rather put the insurance money on more silverstrikes. And believe it or not. I think I should not have to pay for the post office's mistake. It's up to the US Post Office to pay for their mistake. My local postmaster and I have had quite a discussion on this several times. It didnot accomplish anything. BUT, he knows(& hopefully the Post Office higher ups) how I feel about insurance.
As for delivery confirmation. However even this is not a sure thing. How does a person know who got the package. It only as (I understand it) says that it delivered to someone, but who???
So I guess it breaks down to KNOWING the seller or/and KNOWING the buyer. And having done business with them before. I will give a new seller a chance. If they screw it up, then it's good by.
I am sure more could be said. And I hope this post settles something. And that it does not stirr up more bad discussions on the board.
I will be at the Silverstrike tournment in January. If someone would like to have a "friendly" discussion on this subject, with me. I will be the short fat guy, that talks kinda funny.
