Since you are self-insuring your packages, my guess is that in the event that a signature-required package from you does not arrive at it's final desitination ... that you would make good on the claimed loss?
If so, what's the difference if the recipient files a claim with the US Postal Service on an INSURED package that does not make it ... or files a claim with you on a hypothetical package that required a delivery signature didn't arrive? Either way; it seems to me, that the buyer is protected.
