Buyer Beware - Maybe?
In Response To: mccarren bj SPADES ()

I have BIG concerns regarding this token on e-Bay.

It may be legit but after reading the response to Tracy's e-Bay question, it brought up concerns regarding the auction.

Here is the question and response...

Q: Can you look at the strike and see if it has any scratches on it. Do not actually touch the coin as it will leave fingerprints on it which are very hard to remove. This is a very valuable strike so don't let anyone talk you into ending the auction early. Most of the bidding will happen in the last few minutes of your auction and you will do very well with the auction. Thank you, Tracy

A: thx this strike has never been touched it is perfect! Also thx for the advice, I have been collecting for quite some time and have decided to sell. I just reached in a box and pulled this strike for auction. I guess I did not look at it close enough and did not realize what it was untill I listed it. good luck bidding Vic

This seller just registered with e-Bay on Sep-19-05(3 months) and to date no feedback. Has bid on 1 item and won (Horse heads) it in the last 30 days.

According to the answer the Vic has been collecting for quite some time. And can you fathom just reached into a box and pulled out this amazing strike???

The seller has offered NO more strikes for auction and I find it curious since telling Tracy, I have been collecting for quite some time and decided to sell. My concern is that this strikes release happened fairly early in the McCarran $10 silver strike program(9-10 years ago). So how did the seller come by this specific strike? Did they win it from a machine or do a trade with another collector, or buy it at a flea market or garage sell from someone who didn't know what they had?

Any of the collectors personally know this collector?

The answer the seller replies with is ambiguous at best. Could be very true though. I'd be cautious.

I do like the fact that the photos are different of the same strike, on the same carpeting background. Looks as though the seller does have this strike in their posession.

I just have concerns about this strike showing up the way it does and the reply to Tracy.
