Harrah's Senior Vice President for Human Resources Randy Boone. Told all the Harrah's employee's in Lake Charles. In a letter to them that it would be at least 2 years before the Harrah's would open, "if they decide to rebuild" All 1400 employees will be layed off as of Dec 22.
Hurricane Rita destroyed the $50 million barge island, and it will have to be scraped. 1 of the riverboats is grounded in the mud.
My note: the other Riverboat "Star" survived the hurricane ok. Her sister riverboat "Pride of Lake Charles" is the 1 stuck in the mud. And is trapped between the island and the beach. It has been said it will be several months before, she can be freed.
