Ely is 242 miles north of Vegas. Old mining town. Hotel Nevada was built in 1929. Lobby was turned into a small casino when gambling became legal. Most of the Ely Casinos have closed by now. They dont really get much except for the locals who seem to love theeeir video poker.Everyone at the Hotel Nevada seemed to be on a first name basis. Elevation is over 6200 feet so its amazingly cold at night.
