Someone at the MGM desk at the airport this past week told me that the first 24 hours on any new slot machine are the most generous. He said that's because the machines are designed so that they don't use the payout programming until they have been in operation for 24 hours. That makes them much more random, and players therefore tend to hit more jackpots on the first day (and presumably get more strikes). Seems consistent with stories I've heard of collectors hitting the big jackpots on the first day of the new strike machine at the El Cortez, and from regular slot machines at the Wynn. Anyone know if this is true?
