As a point of clarification, the Swap Session the day before the CCGTCC Convention banquet has been an official Silver Strike Club function for the last three years. Take a look at the dates on the convention and club strikes. Our convention begins with the Swap session. Any funds expended are authorized by the Club officers for the benefit of the Club as a whole.
On the other hand,, the Tournament is NOT an official Silver Strike Club function although a lot of our members embrace it and put in a lot of effort to make it a success for the members who choose to attend. The Tournament is a profit-making venture by a casino and the Club derives no financial benefit from it. Despite a full page ad in each newsletter and a plug on the website, I don't believe the Club derives any revenue from advertising the Tournament. The Club did spend money ($500?)last year to provide some refreshments at the Tournament swap session.
