I'm thinking of taking a day trip to the Grand Canyon with my family while in Las Vegas for the convention. We would like to visit the South Rim, since we've seen the West Rim before. I will have a car, but it seems to be a bit too far for a day car trip -- about 5 1/2 hours each way.

Has anyone taken one of those tours where you fly in a small plane to the Grand Canyon and then take a bus around the South Rim? Any recommendations on which tour company or other suggestions? I know they also offer helicopter tours from Las Vegas. Thanks.
