So Beat Me Up!
In Response To: Re: Tournament Strike ()

I am going to get nailed on this board for my opinion.
I believe the non-altered strikes will have a greater demand as a result of modifying/defacing the original of the same strike. When the original is modified through any means, chemical, or otherwise, it not the strike released from the mint anymore. It might enhance the appearance of the strike, but it is no longer the issued strike. Could you do this to a U.S Mint issued coin and say it it is better? Maybe, but I don't think so.
It appears there is great sentiment and applause from those that had their strike altered. If we are entering a new era of strike enhancing so be it. But - the purity of the original is lost. You can't argue with that. That is my main point. The variations could be endless, and the number of a particular strike released will fluctuate over time. What is the consequence of that? I no longer own 1 out of 200. I now own 1 out of 140 (or whatever the number is). I guess I am a purest in this matter.
Now, beat me up guys. Marines are invited.
