I would hardly say this "seriously" changes the nature of collecting. The original idea for this tournament strike was to have been plated and the LVC did not want to go the extra dollars. So we did this one time plating and did it to a strike that had a mint edition of only 200 to begin with. Of course anyone can go have a strike plated or finished in any way they desire and all they would do would be to create an oddball strike and only an oddball would pay extra for it. This was not done to enhance the value to the strike, it was done to enhance the beauty of the strike and nothing has been "seriously" changed at all. And, of course, as we know everything in this world changes and so collecting is a evolving hobby and as a group we are now doing all sorts of things, like the new Club Strike for the Convention, that were not even thought of a few years ago. There was not even a club a few years ago...so what changes we have seen are positive changes and it is all about what someone wants to collect. 39 people wanted to have this strike plated, nothing serious, just fun and it seems that everyone is pleased with the results. Just wonder what Gary and Richard and Freddie can come up with next year, seriously.
