This goes on in other collectible areas also, Depends on how well a job you do selling the item. I've posted a link to a perfect example below. This lure is from the late 1940s and they made them by the gazillion because it caught fish. Their typical value in this condition is $45 to $70, YET, there are 2 to 3 bidders, The same guys, that are more than willing to overpay based primarily upon, what the current bid is and the marketing job of the seller. They won't buy privately because they think they will get screwed but are more than willing to take it in the shorts on ebay. Now the bad part is, when they get tired of their new toys and Put them back up for auction or try to sell them for what they paid 6 months from now, they will get a tough lesson in money management. Happens all the time and about 98% of us lure collectors can only shake our heads..I think its probably the same with this chip. Does anyone recognize any of the bidders as being tenured collectors? I doubt it..
