I have to give the marketing people at the Reno Hilton great credit. The strike machines were returned to the floor this week with some of the front displays holding the old zodiac series while the other displays holding a paper strike which said "Mystery Coin". About three of the cylinders where about 2/3 redcaps (thus the mystery coins). On my third strike I got a redcap. The mystery strike as actually their older series that they had been trying to get rid of for years. Evidently they just bought redcap capsules from IGT and inserted the old strkes in them. The machines were being played heavily and the Hilton was getting rid of all their old stikes. I have to commend the Hilton for their cleaverness in creating these mystery caps and their understanding that collectors will keep playing the machine until they get a redcap or get several of the mystery strikes. As a collector it is disappointing, but for that marketing person, they should get a raise!
