Re: For the record

The definition Skip refers to was adopted at either the 2002 or 2003 convention at a (then) Chapter meeting - by a unanimous vote of all members present. Mary Lou Waterbury was President at that time. Any attack on Don is unwarranted. He is just following what he inherited and what we all had an opportunity to vote on. The rationale for the adopted definition relates to the fact that IGT owns the copyright on the term "Silver Strike" so only IGT can authorize a silver strike. By our Club definiton, then, if it isn't produced in IGT's program, it can't be a "silver strike". That doesn't exclude the item's desirability and collectability. As has been said many times before, collect what makes you happy. It's your collection, not IGT's or the Club's. Many Club members prize the quarter-pounders issued by Ceasars Tahoe, the one pounder, half-pounder and quarter-pounder from the Gold Coast, the nine one pounders from Sierra Sid's with no cash value and so on. Nothing wrong with that as far as I can see. It is all up to the individual to decide if he/she wants to include it in the collection.
