I ran into the same problem, two different nights. I got 14 strikes in the two nights, 2 "partiers" and 12 "bowlers". I talked to the slot manager. She went through 3 racks at the cage, and they were all mostly old ones (this was right after they changed over to the new ones). We proceeded to the machine. She looked in the hopper and there was about 15 left, but the only ones there was (surprise !) bowlers, and partiers. Expressed to her we were trying to get a "racer". There were no racers in the machine. She said when the machines are filled, they just dump in the racks in no particular order. We told her we felt if the strike was displayed, there should be an equal number in the hopper, if not, post a notice like O'Sheas, saying there are only a limited number of "racers", or "slot player" per hopper. Returned two days ago, played the machine again, got 4 strikes....3 more bowlers, and a partier.
