Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cuoid, Donner (AKA Donder) and Blitzen are from a poem "The Night Before Christmas" by W. Clement Moore written in the late 1800s. It has long been in the public domain. Rudolph, on the other hand, is a mid-20th century creation. I brlieve the cioyright is still held by Macy's. Producing Rudolph was a lot tougher than Funny Cide, Seattle Slew or Smarty Jones.
