What a lot of folks in the community do not understand is that Silver Strike machines are a VERY tiny part of the Anchor revenue stream!! Do not forget they own the Wheel patent on the Wheel of Fortune machines which is a HUGE generator of revenue. Additionally, the upcoming merger with may or may not have an impact on whether or not strikes are even continued. The Silver Strike machines here are made by a company that has departed Nevada (Sigma of Japan) and it is not easy keeping a 10 yr old product running, especially considering the poor design of the machine to begin with!(some of you that know me, know that I have been in the gaming Business for over 25 yrs)
Back to the topic of the collectables. I agree that when dealers and collectors both, in the Reno Area, cannot make any money on the strikes...they will either stop getting them or just get the ones they need for their own collections. My personal attitude is that if collectors do not want to pay a price for a certain strike(s) and they are otherwise not available, then they will have to come out here and play for them, if they want them or just go without!
Another popular mis-conception is that you can AVERAGE a cost in general for strikes....Pure poppycock!
The laws in this state REQUIRE TOTAL randomness on EACH play. Think on this. If you play Roulette and black comes up fifteen times in a row, are the chances of red coming up on the next spin any better....NO (the law of averages does not apply in a random game.)
Ask local collectors if they have ever put in $100 and gotten only one strike? Or worse, No strikes/ Then there are those who have gotten what they want in just one spin!! RANDOM is the keyword here!!!! GoodLuck to all
