Ahhh, c'mon Walt. You don't have to attack me. We're all friends here. Read my post again. I never said you would ever see $30 for those strikes. I also agreed the $55 Vegasplayer was charging was very fair...in fact I think extremely fair. I'm not speaking just about the RENO's, but about the 700's in general.
When I said if you "REALLY, REALLY" think about it, all the collectors in this hobby that have been around awhile, and REALLY, REALLY think about it, should be able to remember all the limited 250-500 issues that are still going for $30-80. Thus, my presumption the 700's should only sell for $30. But, hey, we're talking about supply and demand here, and obviously Reno has a supply problem. It could very well be the cost.
A perfect example is the Pavorotti Peter mentioned. Out of a 1000 mintage for that issue, the famous Mr. Katz bought up the last 700 or so (he was inconsistent as to how many he actually bought) from the casino when they were pulled, and he wouldn't budge from his standard $60 selling price until he sold out, thus, the false ceiling.
So, anyway, it's ok to guess the 700's should sell for $30, it's ok to guess it should be $100-125 (maybe some of the guessers are sellers that want the public to believe it so they can get rich selling them). But maybe they really are worth it, the market will tell.
