I think (just a guess Norm) that IGT doesn't sell 20 strikes to the casino, every time someone returns them to the cage.
So their profit on tokens that walk, is reduced by those that are recycled into the machines x 20 each time.
Although I do agree that if someone is playing more for 20 strikes, instead of collecting a set of five, IGT should be making more off the machine play for $200's.
$200's create more play. If their profit is driven by sales of $10 tokens and not slot play, I guess that would be a possible reason.
Anyone remember when the machines first came out and they had a progressive jackpot? It wasn't long and they were set to $1000 locked in. (maybe others were different?)
The Wisconsin casinos had the machines for a short time, ran out of strikes, and at most of them, closed the machine and had it pulled from the floor. One regular player said they were hitting too many Progressives, the casino told me they just kept running out of strikes.
I would think that running out of strikes would be a good thing. Order more and make more money.
