The biggest problem with silver strikes is the brass ring tarnishing. The orginal capsule has a small hole in the side letting air into the capsule. The main thought here is to put it in an air-tite so it doesn't tarnish or at least not as fast. There are two camps here also. Some people use the larger capsule with the foam rings (both white and black) because they also fit the twenty and forty dollar strikes by just removing the ring. There were some people at the convention saying that the foam rings were deteriating and causing the strikes to tarish. I don't know for a fact that this is true. I personally use the direct fit airtites because I like their smaller size. There are a lot of suppliers of both so you can shop for price and decide which size is best for you. Some collectors tried the Dansco alblums but found they don't keep the strikes from tarnishing. With the new machines coming out with yet another size capsule we are all going to have to decide whether to keep them in the orignal or transfer them to the smaller size airtites.
