I am a Librarian Trainee at the San Joaquin Valley Information Service in Fresno, California. We are a reference department which serves all of the public libraries in Central California. A patron brought in a coin for us to identify and value for him. It turns out it is a silver strike casino token. I've checked the CCGTCC library and none of their sources had the info I need. Robert Purdue suggested I post my request on this board and see if anyone could help me. In particular I'm looking for an estimated $ value.
The token is a $7 Silver Strike token from Blackhawk Colorado. It does not have a mint mark. The picture on the face is a miner panning for gold with the AW in Blackhawk over the miner's hat and the words 999 Fine Silver. The reverse is the assayer logo common on many tokens with the words Historic Colorado Mining 999 Fine Silver. The edges are reeded. According to the www.silver-strikes.com database, this token is obsolete.
I appreciate any information you might have. If you have a source which lists the value of this token, please also post the title, author, date etc. Thanks.
