Re: Ghost Lettering on Silver Strikes

It could be a quality control problem at the mint. I have found quite a few with this problem on GDC strikes. I haven't found it on Sunshine Mint strikes. I am told that the shiny surface is created by pressure not polishing. If that is true maybe the die is not contacting the surface beyond the writting properly. Maybe someone with a contact at one of the mints could find out for us.
