More late breaking news -

As of about 6:30pm Las Vegas time, one of the 2 new style silver strike machines was up and running at the El Cortez (and there was already a waiting list with 11 names on it to play!!!). They hoped to have the second one up shortly thereafter.

According to what we were able to find out, one machine will have the current release $10 strikes and a special convention strike. The second machine will have a new set of $10 strikes with a Spanish Conquistadores theme as well as two different $40 strikes with a similar theme.

For those who haven't been fortunate enough to see the new machines, they are impressive...very tall, lots of neon, and very different. Only 1 pay line, you can play 1 to 3 quarters (silver strikes only won if 3 coins are played), and only the right hand reel has the winning strike symbols (one $10 symbol and one $40 symbol).

Kudos to the El Cortez for landing the first two of the long-awaited new machines!
